A Level 2 spectator safety steward qualification is a training program that provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a steward or marshal in a spectator event. The training is designed to meet the minimum requirements set out by the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) for spectator safety at sports and entertainment events in the UK.
The Level 2 spectator safety qualification covers a range of topics, including:
Pre-event planning and preparation
Crowd control and management
Communication skills and customer service
Dealing with challenging behavior
Emergency procedures and evacuation
Health and safety regulations
Understanding the role and responsibilities of a steward or marshal
Legal aspects of working in spectator safety
Level 2 spectator safety certificate
The training is delivered through a combination of classroom-based learning, practical exercises, and assessments. Upon completion of the training, individuals are awarded a Level 2 certificate in spectator safety, which is valid for three years.
Individuals who hold a Level 2 spectator safety certificate can work in a range of spectator events, including sports matches, music concerts, festivals, and other entertainment events. They are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of spectators, managing crowds, and responding to emergencies.
In addition to the Level 2 spectator safety certificate, individuals may also be required to hold other qualifications, such as an SIA (Security Industry Authority) license, depending on the requirements of the event and the employer.
