Case study
Operation London Bridge: 100 guards across four London stations
- Contracted by SCS
- 100 guards
- Four stations
- Two-day deployment

Contracted by security company SCS, Guards 247 supplied 100 guards to support pedestrian flow and station entry and exit during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Our deployment formed part of Operation London Bridge.
Anthony Johnson directed the Guards 247 operation over two days. Our teams worked at Oxford Circus, Bond Street, Piccadilly Circus and Victoria, coordinating with Underground staff as large crowds moved through London.
Bringing the team from the Midlands to London
We hired two coaches to transport guards from across the Midlands. The teams assembled at a rally point near Piccadilly before moving to their assigned stations.
Anthony appointed a team leader for each of the four stations. The number of guards allocated to each location varied according to its entry and exit requirements.

Clear duties at each station
Anthony personally took each team to its station and assigned individual guards their duties and positions. Four team leaders then provided supervision at their respective stations, with Anthony directing the overall Guards 247 deployment.
The work focused on managing pedestrian arrivals, station ingress and egress, and directing members of the public to the appropriate access points.

Direct communication with Underground staff
We supplied a radio to the Underground team at each station. This gave station staff a direct way to communicate with our teams outside.
When staff advised that a station had reached capacity, our guards could temporarily restrict entry and redirect pedestrians towards another entrance or station. Instructions from inside the station informed the response outside.
Managing crowds leaving Hyde Park
Large crowds leaving Hyde Park filled the surrounding streets and headed towards Underground stations. Our teams worked alongside Underground staff to manage arrivals and respond as station capacity changed.
The deployment brought together transport, individual duty allocation, station-level leadership and radio coordination across four locations. It demonstrates Guards 247's ability to mobilise and manage a substantial team for a major public event.
Operational leadership
Anthony Johnson holds Level 5 in Security Management and Level 3 in Risk Assessment. For this deployment, he directed the Guards 247 operation, allocated the teams and personally briefed guards on their duties and positions.
