Union Cup 2023: from planning to final lockup
- Birmingham
- 14 guards
- Week-long event
- Planning through to close-down

Guards 247 supported Union Cup 2023 in Birmingham from the planning stage until the last people, vendors and goods had left the site. Our team remained through close-down and carried out the final lockup.
We supplied 14 guards across the week-long event, combining asset protection, stewarding and crowd-control duties with the management of ticketed entry and parking passes.
Starting with risk assessment and planning
Our involvement began with a risk assessment and planning for the event's entry and exit arrangements. This included how visitors would arrive and leave, how vendors would access the site and how parking would operate.
That preparation gave the team an operational plan for managing the different movements taking place throughout the event.

Entry, parking and visitor direction
Our guards managed ticketed entry and checked parking passes. They directed visitors to the appropriate entrances and parking areas, helping arrivals move through the access points in an orderly way.
The team's responsibilities included:
- Asset protection.
- Stewarding duties.
- Crowd control.
- Managing ticketed entry.
- Checking parking passes and directing arrivals.
- Supporting vendor access and event close-down.

Staying until the work was finished
Our role continued after the event activity ended. The team stayed while people, vendors and goods left the site, then completed the final lockup.
This was a service spanning preparation, the event itself and close-down, with the security team involved throughout.

Client feedback
“You and your security guards made everyone feel at ease throughout the course of the tournament without being too overbearing.”
